FOLLOW UP THOUGHTS
In my not so refined mind, the new economy I reference above consists of several key elements including but not limited to: The Internets, ecommerce, redefining retail altogether, expanding the Blogosphere, social networking/social media, web-based software, building sustainable lean and efficient business models, having a globalized mindset (a local community mindset too), standardizing EVERYTHING, advocating open sourcery, providing free education… to name a few items.
As it all ties together, this new arena we find ourselves in, encompasses a wide gamete of variables: revamping energy policy, rethinking transportation, improving overall infrastructure, decreasing consumption, expanding communications technologies, modernizing the grid… reinventing our educational system, our postal service, our financial sector, our intelligence agencies, our auto industry, our… the list goes on. Bottom line, the scope of the new economy is broad and fundamentally should take into account EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD. It is our job and societal responsibility as a people to, together, transition the old industrial economy out and the new digital economy in - in a way that encourages forward motion - beginning in 2009 it is time for the transition inside all of us to take form, take shape and take hold.
